From a salsa stand to Gilbert Drive
Ki' Mexico started in 2010 at the Shreveport Farmers' Market. Rodrigo Mondragon, his brother Eleazar and their mother Lido sold homemade salsas and tacos from their hometown of Puebla, and often sold out hours before the market closed.
The stand became a pop-up, then a caterer for festivals around Shreveport-Bossier, and in 2015 a restaurant of its own on Gilbert Drive.
They call it Mexican soul food: local farms like Mahaffey Farm's and Bergeron's, salsas made in the kitchen, and family cooking on the weekends.
The kitchen is eclectic and modern, mixing global flavors into traditional Mexican dishes. Since 2015 Ki' Mexico has become a Shreveport staple, a destination, a place to be.
